Upon starting the MFAC painting program students will have a strong foundation in line and value drawing.
Students will provide their own oil or acrylic painting materials. The course begins with learning how to properly care for and use the painting materials, completing a monochromatic painting formally known as a Griselle.
Students will then begin the color mixing course gaining foundational knowledge related to the use of color in painting but applicable to any medium. Students learn how to properly mix and control colors
Following the color mixing course students complete two paintings which will reinforce the skills learned in color mixing and then in consultation with their instructor continue creating paintings of their own choice.
Because drawing and painting is not a linear learning process but cyclical one, meaning a person always faces new challenges in each work they encounter and continues to grow and learn students will periodically cycle back to drawing and then painting each genre helping to grow the other.
The price is $150 per month, unless there are 5 weeks in the month. Students provide own materials.
